Ciao USWIB!
My name is Tiffany and I’m a sophomore studying Finance and (probably) minoring in Politics. This semester, I’m studying abroad at NYU Florence! I chose to study in Florence because I visited the city briefly four years ago, and just fell in love. From the architecture to the food, I was just captivated. So, this was my chance to come back and really get to know the city.
To start off, one of my favorite places in Florence is Piazzale Michelangelo. It has an incredible view of Florence from the other side of the Arno River. You can get to the piazzale by walking up the stairs or you can take the bus. If you do decide not to walk up, I definitely recommend walking down. There are beautiful gardens to either side of the piazzale, called Giardino delle Rose and Giardino dell'Iris. I was only able to see the rose garden (Giardino delle Rose), which was beautiful, and it definitely made the trip going down much more scenic.
What is a meal in Italy without finishing it off with some gelato!? A favorite gelato place of mine is La Strega Nocciola. If you love pistachios, this is the place for you. I’ve tried so many pistachio flavors at different gelaterias (every time I go to a gelateria, which is very often, I get pistachio), but this is definitely one of the best I’ve had in Florence. Luckily, this place is near my apartment, so I can get some whenever I want.
So, these are just some of the things I like doing when I have some free time, and are obviously not encompassing of what Florence has to offer. There is definitely so much more to Florence, such as museums, monuments, and shopping areas, so this is just a slither of what you can do in the city.
That is all for now. A dopo!
Tiffany
