DEI Dialogue: Racialization of Pandemics

Join USWIB for our next DEI Dialogue on Immigration and the Racialization of Pandemics. We are excited to welcome Michelle Mitchell, who is an NYU professor specializing in racial and gender history in the US. She has written several books on topics such as gender, imperialism, and the politics of racial destiny. As always, these discussions are safe spaces and inclusive of all. Sign up at the link below. To help you prepare for discussing this topic, our DEI Director and Board Leaders ask that you read the below articles. It is especially important for this DEI because we will be discussing current events:

1. The Racialization of Disease/COVID
2. Uptick in Anti-Asian Hate Crimes Since Covid
3. COVID Spike in Texas Blamed on Unvaccinated African Americans

We strongly encourage familiarity with these readings prior to the meeting. Thank you for attending and furthering our efforts to make USWIB more inclusive!

Location: UC-25 & Virtual
